Vapes can deliver large amounts of nicotine and cause dependence. Stopping works better with a plan for nicotine withdrawal, triggers and relapse. Young people, pregnant people and those with lung symptoms deserve extra support.
- Strong cravings, thinking about vaping often or using a vape immediately after waking.
- Irritability, restlessness and difficulty concentrating when stopping.
- Remove devices, pods, liquids and chargers on the quit date.
- Record nicotine strength and use so that reduced intake is not unknowingly offset by greater use.
- Make an appointment if you cannot stop, also smoke, are pregnant or have a mental health or lung condition.
- For urgent GP care outside normal opening hours, call HAP 9252. Call Ambulance 912 only for an immediately life-threatening situation.
